Spare ChairsSPARE CHAIRS

The extended ending, told slowly.

Seven years after Mom sold my car, she called about a ride.

Over ten years the family took $7,845. The ending is $3.

First 100 buyers pay $3. Then it's $5.

The video stopped at an envelope. How It Ends is the rest: the scene it cut, the call from the title, the morning at the counter and Dana's full ledger, every dollar from 2015 to 2025.

From The Keeper

The call from the title, in full.

You asked how it ended. Here it is.

The title said seven years later, Mom called about a ride. The video ended on a spare key and four words.

Same Dana, same Lorraine, same blue folder. It picks up the night the envelope came and walks, at a reading pace, all the way to the call, and past it.

It's text you can read at your own speed, with no game on the screen and nobody rushing you. Viewers have asked for that too:

Where the video stopped, in six scenes

This is page 4 of the book, so you know exactly where the ending picks up.

  1. The TuesdayDana comes home from her shift to an empty driveway and an oil stain the size of a dinner plate. Mom has sold the silver Corolla to a man from church for $4,200 cash, to save Curtis's truck.
  2. The blank sideThe title is upstairs in the blue folder under Dana's bed. Her name is the only name on the front. The back, where a seller signs, is clean.
  3. The man on the porchNine days later Hollis Tate knocks. He has already fixed the leaking gasket. He reads the title and says, very quietly, "Lorraine, you told me this was your car."
  4. Just sign itMom slides a pen across the table. Then she offers to sign it for Dana. Dana slides the pen back, names her terms and stops explaining.
  5. The truckCurtis sells his truck. Hollis gets every dollar back, Mom adds the gasket money in a church envelope, and Hollis drives the Corolla home on a Saturday.
  6. The last billDana moves into a one-bedroom near the clinic. Months later an envelope arrives with Mom's spare key and four words: "Curtis moved back in." The video ends there.

Chapter 3 opens on a Tuesday in March 2025, with Dana at work counting insulin pens against a packing slip, when her phone shows MOM.

She had not called me in the middle of a workday in seven years.

The Keeper

Who made this

The Keeper, at Spare Chairs

I read these stories slowly, with a real pause after every sentence, because you're usually doing something else with your hands. I believe the best revenge is a boundary kept in plain sight: stop paying, stop explaining and leave the paperwork in order.

How this book was made

3,242 words of new story, picking up at the video's last line. Every fact carried over from the video was checked against its script: the names, the $4,200, Hollis's gasket, the bare hook, the four words. Every weekday named in the book matches its real calendar.

Original stories, checked against the video's script.

Questions

Before you buy

Is this the same story as the video?

Yes. Same people, same car, same folder. It starts the night of the envelope, the video's last scene, and goes on to the call seven years later. The first pages recap the video in six scenes, so it reads fine even if you watched it a while ago.

Is it real?

No. It's original fiction, like everything on Spare Chairs. The people, places and dollar amounts are invented.

Does it actually end, or is there another cliffhanger?

It ends. The last chapter is called How it ends, and nothing is held back for a sequel.

Can I read it on my phone?

Yes. It's a 28 page PDF set at a size made for phones and laptops. You download it right after checkout.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final. This is a digital download you get right away, so we don't offer refunds. This doesn't affect any rights you have by law. The recap, the contents and six real pages are here so you can check it first.
